As a woman, I was raised to be a people pleaser. I was a hell raiser nonetheless, but it was deeply ingrained in me to be what others wanted me to be.
The ideal daughter, ideal student, ideal girlfriend/employee/wife/boss/mother/etc.
I’m eternally grateful that I followed my own path and always stood up for what I believe in. Because now that I’m older, I’m realizing that I don’t have any more figured out now, than I did when I was younger.
No sooner do we figure out one thing, there’s a laundry list of other things still to figure out.
Only now I don’t have the energy and the stamina that I had when I was younger. So figuring stuff out takes longer. I no longer dive in head first and accept the bruises I get. It’s more of a stroll than a mosh pit.
But, despite my independent streak, I’ve still worn the masks of ideal girlfriend, ideal employee, and now I’m tasked with figuring out who is the “real” me who’s going to lead this business? Who’s the real me who is going to stand up for women business owners around the world, stand up for the environment, humanity, and evolution? Who is the real me who is going to lead this (r)evolution to save the world?
I might’ve never known, if I didn’t have my own business and this amazing opportunity to explore this answer! Because that’s the true power of growing a business in this day and age – an opportunity to explore that bright and shining supernova light inside ourselves. A light that will chase away the darkness this world is covered in.
A light that will shine like a lighthouse for other business owners, leaders, and women of all kinds to find their own way.
Can you imagine what would happen if women across the world started to discover and embrace their light? Started to shed the masks of being someone else’s ideal and started to explore what their own ideal is?
Can you imagine what this world would be like if those same women started to rise to positions of power? Or grow their businesses until they overtook Exxon, Halliburton, Trump Hotels, etc.?
Can you imagine your own world if you allowed your light to shine a little brighter and embraced your own ideal self? The ideal self who takes off the masks and likes who she finds underneath? Who becomes more successful because everyone is drawn to the woman underneath the masks?
What would your world look like? I’d love to hear about it!
